Umbrella

UMBRELLA / SCOTCH is a 2 v 2 team event. Each golfer plays their own ball and the best score wins. You can play this gross, net or give certain players a fixed number of strokes/pops. Umbrella Scotch is a side game that rewards consistency across and punishes big numbers. It’s easy to track and works great alongside stroke play or match play.

Teams are established and remain constant

Players

4 players

Played within a pairing

2 Person team vs 2 person team

Once teams are selected on the first hole they remain constant throughout the round.

Points are established by accomplishing the following tasks: these points are customizable in game setup before the event is launched.

Closest to the hole in regulation <1>

Lowest combined team score <1>

Lowest Individual Score <2>

Birdie or better scoring <2>

Winning an Umbrella

If any team wins all 6 points they Umbrella their opponent and the point values are doubled to 12 (more if you have set larger point value for each task)

Match Play Style Betting

Each hole is a separate bet between teams with no carryover.

Team A: 5 points Team B: 1 point 5 – 1 = 4 x base bet = team A win per person and Team B loss per person

Team A : 6 points Team B 0 Points 6 x 2umbrella = 12 x base bet = Team A win per person and Team B loss per person.

Handicaps (Optional)

Handicaps apply per hole per USGA slope/tee/course/hole ratings 

Use USGA or a custom agreed upon handicap by adjusting the players handicap inside the game
